Iceland's South Coast, Suðurland, Iceland
South Coast and Glacier Lagoon
Six days between Reykjavík and Jökulsárlón, driving nothing.
- 6 days · 5 nights
- 2–12 travellers
- Easy
- Trekking
- Coast and islands
Waterfalls, black-sand beaches, a glacier walk and the icebergs at Jökulsárlón, with the northern lights on the table from September onwards.
Everything on this route is within sight of one road, which is why it works in six days when the full ring road does not. We drive it in short legs, so the day is stops rather than hours in a seat. Winter and summer are two different trips at the same price. Between June and August it never gets properly dark and the highland tracks are open; between late September and March it is aurora weather, the ice caves are in, and daylight is short enough that we plan around it.
Day by day
Þingvellir where the plates pull apart, Geysir, and Gullfoss, ending at a farm hotel out on the plain.
Farm hotel, Selfoss
